David Bacon

David Roland Bacon December 18, 2020 David Roland Bacon, 90, formerly of Syracuse and DeRuyter Lake, NY and Englewood, FL passed away on December 18, 2020 in Webster, NY.
He was born and raised in Syracuse and graduated from Nottingham H.S. A 1952 graduate of Cornell University School of Mechanical Engineering and member of Phi Kappa Psi, David then served 2 years in the US Army Ordnance Corp, at Aberdeen, MD. David married Ellen Taylor on February 19, 1955 at University United Methodist Church in Syracuse. David started his business career with Allis-Chalmers as a sales engineer in Allentown, PA. In 1961, he returned to Syracuse to join his father-in-law's business, Kenneth A. Taylor Inc. Then he received a New York State Professional Engineer license and started his own mechanical contracting firms, Bacon Industries and Burnet Installations. Later David entered the affordable housing field in Upstate New York founding Two Plus Four Companies which develops, builds and manages rental housing apartments and homes.
Golf was David's favorite form of recreation as a member of Nottingham Knolls, Calvary Club and Drumlins. He enjoyed memorable trips to Scotland with Joe Tesori. Beginning in 1989, David and Ellen spent much of the winter extending their golf season on the west coast of Florida. Family, friends, and business associates of David remember his smile, firm handshake, integrity, unconditional love, humility, quiet generosity, gentle kindness, humor and P.O.W.s (Pearls of Wisdom). David's family is very thankful for the entire staff at Maplewood Nursing Home in Webster where he received excellent care and loving attention for 14 months. All of us were treated like family too.

Grandchildren Chrysa Charno (Jason) Webster, NY, Ryan Steenberg, Webster, NY, Sara Bergan (Jeremy), Webster, NY, Carol Thomas (Brandon) Eden Prairie, MN, Sahra Eggert (Seth), Carver, MN, Corrie Pratt (Andrew) Falls Church, VA, Kate Lytle (Brendan) Champions Gate, FL, Taylor Bacon (Alex) Liverpool, NY, Christina Connors, Victor, NY, Kathy Brotherton (Mark) Phoenix, AZ, Matt Kimmel (Danielle) Chittenango, NY, Jeffrey Kimmel (Tanya) Cleveland, NY, David Kimmel (Laurie) Constantia, NY, James Kimmel (Adriana) Melbourne, FL, Louise Bacon, Henry Bacon, Frederick Bacon, Colchester, VT and 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
Calling hours and Memorial service at University United Methodist Church have been cancelled due to the recent illness of his wife, Ellen. There will be a private family celebration of life at their home in DeRuyter
