Cynthia Anthis

Cynthia "Cindy" Anthis, 74, of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.

Born and raised in Syracuse, Cindy was a proud graduate of Nottingham High School. She was one of seven children born to Paul and Charlotte Munson and carried with her the values of kindness, humility, and generosity that would define her life.

To know Cindy was to know warmth. She possessed a vibrant personality that could light up any room, an infectious smile, and a laugh that was unmistakably her own. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. Unassuming and genuinely kind, Cindy never met a stranger, only friends she hadn't yet made. Her gregarious spirit and sincere interest in others left lasting impressions wherever she went.

Cindy began her professional career as the Business Manager at Drumlins Country Club before making the decision to devote herself to raising her children. Family was always at the center of her life, and she embraced motherhood with unwavering love.

In the final four years of her life, Cindy found community, and a sense of purpose through volunteer service at St. Camillus and the Bernardine. Although her work was unpaid, she approached it with extraordinary dedication and compassion. Whether visiting with patients, offering a listening ear, or simply brightening someone's day with her smile, Cindy gave of herself wholeheartedly. Her volunteer work reflected who she had always been, a woman whose greatest joy came from helping others and making the world a little brighter through simple acts of kindness.

More than anything, Cindy cherished her family. She was an adoring grandmother whose greatest happiness came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren. They brought immeasurable joy to her life, and the love she shared with each of them will remain one of her greatest legacies.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Charlotte Munson; her brother, Peter Munson; and her sister, Susan Munson.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Lori (Tyson) Webber, Niki (Patrick) Hensberry, and Thomas (Anna) Anthis; her seven cherished grandchildren Caroline, Ava, James, Frankie, Finnegan, Jameson, and Kinley; her sisters, Kathy Grecco, Trica (Jim) Griffin, and Judy Hainey; her brother, Paul Munson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.

Cindy's life was defined not by grand gestures, but by the countless quiet moments of kindness, laughter, generosity, and love she shared with others. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the family she treasured, the friendships she cultivated so effortlessly, and the many lives she touched through her compassion and unwavering willingness to help.

Though she will be deeply missed, Cindy's light continues to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Burns Garfield Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Cindy's life, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman whose kindness and warmth touched so many.
