Clara Grau

Clara Grau , 93, passed away May 19^th, 2022 in comfort at Crouse Hospital. Clara was born in New York City on February 13^th, 1929, moving to the Syracuse area in 1968. Clara resided at Lawndale Ira since January of 2019 and spent her retirement years there until passing. Prior Clara was a resident at Elgin Ira beginning in 2015, where photos can still be found hung of our dear Clara for her memory.  

Clara could often be found in the common room watching "Golden Girls” or catching up on current events for the area. Clara loved to sing and knew the words to many hymns,” Amazing Grace” could often be heard chiming throughout the home. Miss Clara enjoyed church on Sundays, breakfast with her “best friend” daily, and having her nails painted by staff. Clara had many outdoor adventures in her younger years while traveling and liked to keep pictures hung in her room of them.  

Clara will be deeply missed by her fellow housemates, treatment team and caregivers at OPWDD.  

Calling hours will be on Tuesday May 24 from 1pm-3pm at Burns- Garfield Funeral Home,3175 East Genesee Street Syracuse with funeral services to follow at 3pm. Burial will be Wednesday May 25  at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
