On September 15, 2024, we said goodbye to Caroline Louise Angotti Brust (85). Caroline was a wife, a mother, Nana, and a devoted friend to many. She was a proud Syracuse native and a 1957 graduate of Eastwood High and Syracuse University in 1963, the first in her family to graduate from college. She was a proud Alpha Phi.
Caroline married Nicholas C. Brust and they shared their life for over 60 years at her passing. She was a proud member of the Onondaga Golf and Country Club (OGCC) and so many other organizations and clubs. She gave back to the community she loved, her entire life. She served on numerous boards and was happiest when of service or with countless dear friends. Most notable was her love for the Vera House Foundation Board. Vera House does the important work of preventing, responding to, and partnering to end domestic and sexual violence and other forms of abuse. Their mission and work filled her soul.
She left a list of her accomplishments, with a note reminding her daughter to wear makeup and please get her nails done for the service. Caroline loved the last word. She had a stubborn streak, excellent penmanship, love of gardenias, black licorice, and her garden. She wore light pink lipstick and blue eyeshadow, and was a bubble gum blowing champion, a few times over. God, she loved her cat, Otto. She was a terrific cook, and she loved to entertain. She had the best sense of humor, and she could swear like a sailor. She will be remembered for her limitless love for family and friends
Caroline is survived by her husband Nick, two children, Matt Brust and Katie Brust (Adams), and by her grands, Jack and Mason Adams whom she loved with all her heart. She was predeceased by her little sister Frannie who died of cancer in 1983, and then her parents who followed shortly afterwards.
Caroline was deeply loved by her family and friends, who were like family to her. She will continue to be the voice in our heads and our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will held be on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Spring St Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 am prior to Mass. Caroline would like you wear what makes you happy. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Vera House,723 James St Syracuse NY 13203
