Cara W. Christensen

Cara W. Christensen, 42, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning October 4 at her home in Syracuse. Cara was born August 8, 1974, in Cleveland, Ohio to Joan Kumor Christensen and Craig Christensen. She graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY and completed a secondary social studies teaching program at SUNY Cortland. She taught for several years in the Syracuse City School District, and continued as a teacher and a mentor afterward, with a passion for history and helping others. Cara was devoted to her family and her beloved dog Lucy who died last year. She was a friend to many in both the Syracuse and Boston area.

Cara is survived by her parents Joan Christensen of Syracuse, and Craig Christensen of Ventura, CA. She was loving sister to her siblings Michael Christensen, Laura Ghirardini and David Christensen and a beloved Aunt to her 11 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday October 10, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St. Dewitt. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-5 PM at Burns-Garfield, A Life Celebration Home, 3175 East Genesee St.
