Beverly J. Pulver, 88, of DeWitt, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at Crouse Hospital after a brief illness. Bev was born on December 23, 1927 in Syracuse to Dr. John Chase Wheat and Marian Julia (Van Benschoten) Wheat. Bev was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Frederick W. Pulver, Jr., on December 19, 1985, and by her brother Dr. John Donald Wheat, of Fairfield, CA, on March 4, 2009.
Bev was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, graduating from Nottingham High School in 1945, and Syracuse University in 1949. At SU she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a member of the Antique Club of Syracuse, the Syracuse Rose Society, and Erwin First United Methodist Church. Bev was a lifelong homemaker with a wonderful sweet tooth. Later in life she enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and reminiscing with her family.
Bev is survived by her two children, Susan Simon, of Syracuse, and Stephen (Nancy) Pulver, of DeWitt; four grandchildren, Andrew (Janet) Simon of Arlington, VA, Rebecca (Nathan) Seamon of Blairstown, NJ, Benjamin Pulver and Samuel Pulver both of DeWitt; and five great-grandchildren, Claire Simon, Timothy Simon, Chester Seamon, Katherine Seamon, and James Seamon.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Burns Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Friday, February 19, 2016 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
