Barbara Ahern

Barbara Ahern, 84, passed away peacefully September 11, at St. Camillus. Born July 29, 1936 in Middletown, NY the daughter of Harry E. Barnes and Dorothy Barnes Ercoline. Barbara was a graduate of Middletown High School and Syracuse University, she retired in 2003 from Onondaga County after 30 years of service. She volunteered at Community General Hospital and CONTACT where she served as President of the Board of Directors for 4 years. She enjoyed taking classes at OASIS and had fun with the Red Hat Ladies of Syracuse.
Predeceased by her parents, stepfather Martin J. Ercoline, brother H. Ray Barnes and daughter-in-law Linda Ahern. Barbara is survived by four children, Michael, Susan (Donald), Kevin (Melissa) and Catherine (Marie); 4 Grandchildren Jennifer, Stephen, Cindy, and Amy; 6 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She leaves a legacy of the importance of family, friends and enjoying what we are blessed with each and every day.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 16 from 2-4 pm followed by a 4 pm service at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. Mask and Social distance guidelines will be observed. Due to the Covid-19 the Ahern family understands if you are not able to attend.
