Anne (Anastasia) Tzivani, 93, fell asleep in the Lord at her home in Dewitt, NY on the morning of Tuesday, January 29, 2019, with her family by her side.
She was born in Syracuse, NY to Pericles and Athena (Anthopolous) Anthis who had emigrated from Neahoriou, Turkey.
Anne married Leonidas (Harry) Tzivani in 1947 in Syracuse where together they raised their family. They were married for more than 70 years until Harry passed away in 2018.
Anne was a graduate of Syracuse Central High School. She graduated early because she was so eager to the working world. She had a long working career, including positions at Kemper Insurance, Smith Corona Typewriter, and with (Chase) Lincoln Bank for 25 years in the International Money Department, before retiring.
She was a faithful parishioner of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church where she is a member of the Philoptochos Society. If Anne wasn't home, you could find her at the church helping with the coffee hour, coloring red Easter eggs, baking or working for the Greek Festival. She loved to serve.
Anne's grace and loving kindness were unwavering. She lived to serve her family, whether it was having grandkids and their friends sleep over or hosting regular Sunday dinners after church, she did it all and she did it with great joy. Her home was always open to family, friends, and those new to the Syracuse community.
She is survived by her son, Steve Tzivanis and daughter Debora Politis. Grandchildren, David Hammer (Amy), Anastacia Aragon (Pepe), Jeff Hammer (Miyoung), Bobby Hammer (Lindsay), Danny Hammer (Kate), Mia Zhang Leffard (Bobby), Lucas Tzivanis, Katie Tzivanis, 14 great grandchildren and Sister-in-Law Niki Anthis along with many treasured nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Anne is predeceased by her husband Harry, her daughter Athena "Tina" Zhang and brother Tom Anthis.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Anne's loving caregivers: Dana, Vicki, Shari, Kathy, Cathy and to Hospice Nurse Cali and Social Worker Elyssa.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 1 from 4-7 pm at Burns Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St., Syracuse NY and the Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 2 at Noon at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd., Syracuse, NY.
