Anna Skopelianos, 95, of DeWitt, passed away Monday October 12, 2015. She was born and lived in the village of Kladorahi, Florina, Greece before immigrating to Syracuse in 1970 with her husband and son. Anna imparted her strength and wisdom to her family who will miss her dearly. She enjoyed tending to her legendary garden, cooking and baking (especially her wonderful pita), watching Syracuse Basketball and spending time with her beloved family of whom she was very proud. Anna was a member of St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church. She was predeceased by her husband George in 2001. Anna is survived by her four beloved children: Paraskevi Mogiannis of Melbourne, Australia, Kathy Shiomos and Mary Dimkopoulos, both of DeWitt, and Angelo (Margaret) Scopelianos of Whitehouse Station, NJ; and 8 grandchildren: George (Angela) Mogiannis, Christina Shiomos, Mary (Robert) Trachevski, Dino (Jeannie) Dimkopoulos, George (Tina) Shiomos, Effe (Dan) O'Hara Fiedler, George (Angela) Scopelianos and Samuel Scopelianos; and 12 great-grandchildren: Georgina, Matthew, Katina, Nikita, Sophia, Nicoletta, Niko, Alexandra, Gabriella, Grace, Jimmy, and Margaret, as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 15, from 5-7 pm at Burns Garfield Funeral Home 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse across. A Trisagion Service led by Father David Smith will be held at 5 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 16 at 11 am at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church 325 Waring Rd Syracuse with burial to follow in Oakwood-Morningside Cemetery.
