Venera Ann Wright,83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Born January 9, 1937 in Fulton, NY. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1954 and attended Syracuse University Business School of Management and graduated in 1958. Shortly after graduation she worked for the fledgling television station WHEN 5 for 12 years.
Ann was married to William Wright Sr for 52 years until his death in 2012. She was a resident of DeWitt for 55 years and she was very active in volunteer work for the Jamesville-DeWitt PTA and later the JD School Board where she served as President. In addition, Ann was also on the Board of OCM BOCES for over 35 years and serving as President for 29 years. She was a member of the DeWitt Library Council for 6 years and the Holy Cross Church historian for 20 years, serving as Parish Council President for 25 years. Her Strong belief in volunteering and giving back gave her great pride and meaning in life.
Predeceased by her husband William Wright Sr; Ann is survived by her sons William (Regina) of DeWitt and John (Dina) of Rochester; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Genevieve and Aaron, who she adored. Her brother Peter of Vero Beach, Fl; Sisters Rose Porcello of PA. and Betty Petronis of Troy, NY. As wells as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on at 10 am on Thursday, October 15 at Holy Cross Church DeWitt. A Calling hour will be held from 9-10 am at the church. NYS Guidelines will be followed. Donations in Ann's memory may be made to the Food Bank of CNY or a charity of your choice.
