Andreas Armatas, passed away March 22, 2017, born in Fterno, Lefkada, Greece to Ilias & Eleni Armatas on April 5, 1920. Andreas was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Pandelly) Armatas, brother of the late, Evangelia, Georgia, Spiro, George, Evangelos, and Niko. Dearest father of Christina (Michael) Auer, Nicholas (MaryAnn) Malagisi, Diane (Malagisi) Marcus; adoring grandfather to Andrea and Martina Auer, Christopher (Anna) Malagisi, Anastasia Malagisi and Irene Marcus; sister in laws Joyce Armatas and Tassoula Armatas and several nieces and nephews here in the United States, Greece & Argentina. He especially loved and was loved by his niece Stephanie Armatas.

Andreas served as a policeman & served his country in Greece until 1956. He immigrated to the United States in 1962 at the invitation of his sister Evangelia. Andreas transitioned to the restaurant business, where he worked for more than 30 years. Andreas was committed to his customers, friends and community as much as he was to his family. Andreas loved his family more than anything. He especially loved cooking for everyone & spending time with his grandchildren. Cooking souvlaki at the Greek Festival was one of his most favorite things. He will be remembered for his smile, loving people & being a most kind & unselfish man.

Relatives & friends may call Friday, March 24th from 4-7p.m. at Burns Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St, Syracuse. A Trisagion service will be held at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be performed at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd., Saturday morning at 11:30am, followed by interment at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church or Hospice of Central New York.
