Anastasios “Tassi” Sinitsas

Anastasios (Tassi) Sinitsas passed away peacefully with family by his side at the remarkable age of 98 on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Anastasios was born in Flambouro, Florina, Greece. He served in the Greek Army. In 1966, he made the brave journey to United States with his beloved late wife, Maria Sinitsas and their children, Stavroula (Loulla) and Konstantinos (Kocho). Like many immigrants of his time, Anastasios found work in a factory setting at Frazer & Jones Company where he worked until his retirement. Knowing no English, he navigated his shifts by listening for the bells that indicated that start and end of his workday.

Anastasios was a devoted member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church and a proud member of the Pan-Macedonian Association. Earlier in life, he was an avid hunter and had a passion for gardening. He enjoyed growing his tomatoes and peppers in his “kepo”, especially the hot variation. While visiting, he would often share stories of the village, poems and also ended with singing songs. He enjoyed music, playing instruments, Saturday morning trips to the regional market and had a niche for collecting items. He always looked forward to the traditional lamb roast during Pascha. Known to many as Tassi, he was also a loving Papou to 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who will deeply miss his stories and warm presence. His daughter, Stavroula provided loving care to allowing him to remain comfortably in his home until the end.

He is preceded in death by his wife Maria Sinitsas, son Konstantinos Sinitsas, and siblings. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law Stavroula (Loulla) and Georgio Politis, grandchildren and their spouses, Georgianna (Alen) Trpevski, Marianna (Chris) Tacea, Kristoforos (Hilary) Politis. Marika Sinitsas and Katherine Sinitsas. Great-Grandchildren, George, Ilias, Isidora, Alexandra, Giannis & Persefoni. His sister-in-law Despina Kiritsis. Along with many nieces and nephews in Australia, Greece and here in the states. Services will be held at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, August 20th at 11am and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
