Alice Barker Hale of Bradenton, FL, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021 at the family home on Cayuga Lake. Alice was born in Clifton Springs, NY on October 7, 1925 to Harry and Clara (Gannett) Barker. She raised her family of eight children in the Stolp-Strathmore neighborhood of Syracuse and later spent her time in Bradenton. She was an avid golfer at Bellevue Country Club and the Pinebrook Ironwood Golf Course and continued to play into this year. She loved her various bridge groups, snow skiing, waterskiing, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the community at Bellevue Methodist Church. Alice was predeceased by her parents, brother Donald Barker, husband DeForest E. Hale, MD, eldest son Frank D. Hale and his wife Valerie (Gardner), granddaughter Laurie Davis, and loving companion Robert Sims of Camillus and Bradenton. Surviving are her children Janet Davis (Don) of Rock Cave, WV, Patricia Wilson (Bob) of Liverpool, NY, Alan Hale of Erie, PA, Marilyn McDermott (Tim) of Camillus, NY, Madelyn Hornstein (Dale) of Syracuse, NY, Melanie Flaherty (Patrick) of Chesapeake, VA, and DeForest Hale (Tracy) of Syracuse, NY. Alice loved and was very proud of her 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren (and counting). She will be remembered as a wonderful hostess, a loyal friend, and the matriarch of the large family that she cherished. At Alice's request, there will be no calling hours and a private family service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
